
Maru Medina Miyasaki completed her social service in the Export Department of Chata Food Industry. In the context of the tricolor party, she has held various positions, such as technical secretary of the Organization and Political Operation Secretariats of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the PRI between 2014 and 2016, candidate for federal deputy by the principle of Proportional Representation, among other prominent roles in the political arena.
Until September 2024, she served as the director of the Strategic Planning and State Coordination Unit of the Mexican Institute of Social Security for Well-Being (IMSS-Bienestar) in Mexico City. On the other hand, Joel Medina Miyasaki, known as 'La Morsa,' was recently arrested in Mexico City and it was revealed that he was a close operator of Aureliano Guzmán Loera, brother of 'El Chapo' Guzmán, and received protection from his sister María Eugenia Medina Miyasaki, nicknamed 'La Maru,' a former local deputy of the PRI.
Investigations carried out by various entities such as Sedena, Semar, the GN, the FGR, and the SSPC indicate that Joel 'M' received support from his sister to take refuge in various homes. It has been pointed out that 'Maru' Medina Miyasaki is part of a network of former officials from Sinaloa that provides protection to 'Guano' Guzmán's group in the manufacturing and trafficking of fentanyl to the United States. 'La Morsa' had mobility in residences in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and in the Narvarte Poniente neighborhood of the Benito Juárez mayoralty in Mexico City.
Maru Medina Miyasaki served as a local deputy for District 19 of Sinaloa from 2016 to 2018, which includes the municipalities of Elota, Culiacán, San Ignacio, and Cosalá. Later, in November 2020, she was appointed by Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas as head of the Unit to Eradicate Political Violence Against Women of the PRI at the national level. Her academic background includes studies in Economics at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, which allowed her to join the National College of Economists.
In addition to her work as a deputy and director, Maru Medina Miyasaki was a councilor in Elota between 2014 and 2016, collaborating on labor and business development projects in the municipality. She also participated in initiatives of the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, such as the creation of the Tourism Advisory Council.
